Jason Saul, managing producer of public radio's BirdNote

Kitsap Audubon meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at the lower floor of the Poulsbo library from 7 PM to 9 PM. There is no meeting in July or August.

Kitsap Audubon program, 13 Sept. 2018, 7 to 9 p.m.

“An inside look at making BirdNote, the daily radio show about birds.
Join Jason Saul, managing producer of public radio's BirdNote, for an in-depth look at how the national daily radio show creates their stories.
“BirdNote's team includes writers, sound designers, narrators, producers - and some of the world's leading bird experts. Starting with an introduction to BirdNote and public radio, we'll discover how producers turn bird ideas into multimedia stories that reach millions of people. We'll search through the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Macaulay Library to find bird songs, and use professional audio software to combine bird sounds with other recorded elements to make a final episode. Plus, plenty of opportunities to ask questions!
“As BirdNote's managing producer, Jason oversees and coordinates the many scientists, writers, editors, photographers and audio and video producers working together to make the show. Prior to coming to BirdNote, Jason oversaw technology and programming at the New Orleans NPR station, and before that was a long-time producer on the public radio music and culture program American Routes. Jason and his wife Dionne moved to Bremerton from New Orleans in 2017.”
