Vanished Bird Species . . . poet and writer Holly Hughes

On September 14th, the Kitsap Audubon Society hosts award-winning poet and author Holly Hughes who will give a multi-media presentation on 15 bird species that no longer fill our skies.

Per the September 2017 Kitsap Audubon newsletter The Kingfisher, “Holly’s book Passings was recently nominated for an American Book Award by the Before Columbus Foundation. She is also the author of Sailing by Ravens (University of Alaska Press, 2014), co-author of The Pen and the Bell: Mindful Writing in a Busy World (Skinner House Press, 2012), and editor of the award-winning anthology, Beyond Forgetting: Poetry and Prose about Alzheimer’s Disease (Kent State University Press, 2009). Holly has taught writing for years and she hosts writing workshops throughout the Northwest.

When: 14 September (Thursday), 7 to 9 PM
Where: Poulsbo Library (lower floor), 700 NE Lincoln Rd.
What: regular 2nd Thursday of the month meeting of the Kitsap Audubon Society, which is always well attended, and at which there are always excellent presentations about nature by knowledgeable and entertaining speakers.
Cost: free. Open to the public.
